Letter to My Clients About Insurance Industry Delays

Dear Clients:

The health insurance industry is overwhelmed. Industry experts estimate that 80% of all small groups renewed their insurance coverage in the 4th quarter of 2015, and most of those renewals occurred on December 1. The volume of work that carriers are now handling is unprecedented, and it’s making for huge delays in processing. I am sharing this with you because you and your employees may be affected by these delays, and I want you to know that this is an industry-wide problem that is creating frustration for everyone (including me). You may experience longer hold times when calling carriers, delays in getting confirmation of enrollment changes, missing ID cards, and incorrect bills. Providers may not be able to confirm enrollment information with carriers, and participants may need to pay out-of-pocket for treatment and then file claims when their enrollments are processed. None of this is ideal, but there is no easy solution as carriers need time to handle the volume of work.

As your broker, I am here to help you and your employees and I will do everything I can to minimize your frustration.
