I attended the Raines Feldman LLP annual employment law update on Friday and learned about some of the major federal and state legal issues that will be affecting California employers in 2020, including:
- Independent contractor issues
- Grooming and appearance policies
- Lactation accommodation.
- Sexual harassment definitions and training
- Employment applications
- California Consumer Protection Act
- Arbitration agreements
The message was clear – California employers continue to operate in a challenging, employee-friendly environment. Many of these issues can and should be addressed in clear, written policies that are part of an up-to-date employee handbook.
